Since we are celebrating GOG 15th, can GOG preserve Red Alert 2 + Yuri Revenge and make it run on modern OS since EA are not doing it.

I prefer to not install 3rd party patches and what not. At least even if GOG version uses some, I'm sure at least GOG went through the GOG with debugger / assembler to make sure it didn't do anything funny (keylogger or what not).

Shouldn't be a problem, there are many Electronic Art games sold here.

Vote HERE
and
HERE.

EA would still have to give the OK and they certainly don't care. EA are sitting on a slightly-remastered version of American McGee's Alice (It was slightly updated with widescreen, controller support, etc as part of the bundle with the sequel), yet they're not selling it anywhere. They don't sell it on their own store, they don't sell it on Steam and they don't sell it on GOG, despite there being over 19000 votes for it.

Not enough to get new games here for some time, but we've had a glimpse that EA does value its classic game presence on GOG due to them dropping a certain other store because, I quote, "a strategic decision was made to focus on fewer channels" (unfortunately can't link to the article, as it's against the rules, but look for a certain "enlarged" news post on the 21st of March this year, with some extra context related to GOG on a post made on the 1st of September 2022). Arguably GOG could negotiate to get some new releases here perhaps.

Best to wear some antivirus/system security rather than superstition.

For last five years I am supporting with my name this site
https://www.myabandonware.com/
And celebrated many transfers of games to gog.com like with this game
https://www.myabandonware.com/game/command-conquer-red-alert-2-7pl#buy
It says your game is available in EA shop and it's no longer abandoned.

You aren't allowed to link to piracy sites on the forum.
EA doesn't like old games. They'd rather let them die and stay dead, unless you're willing to pay more than they're worth. Besides, it's too much effort for them. Why not buy the annual update for the same games they've been selling for 20 years instead?

Myabandonware only offers downloads for actual abandonware. Any games actively being sold have links for where to buy the games instead of download links and any games that leave their abandonware status are quickly changed the same way.

There is a difference between respectful abandonware sites and actual piracy sites. Myabandonware also encourages people to buy on GOG instead of Steam.

idbeholdME: actual abandonware
legally speaking it is still piracy

Sachys: legally speaking it is still piracy
Legally speaking it actually depends on the jurisdiction and the organism enforcing said laws. But yes, I'd also read it as technically against GOG forum rules.

In other words, it's a grey area.

EA might be the worst company ever but they "preserved" Red Alert 2 along with Yuri's Revenge expansion and other games in Command & Conquer series.

I have no idea what is the current price for Command & Conquer The Ultimate Collection on EA something (ex Origin store) but for me it was about 20-25 bucks I think and it's worth every penny.

How very glass half full of you to view EA pulling games from ZP as them valuing their old games catalogue lol. To me it shows the exact opposite. ZP were selling EA games that were not on GOG. Did EA relist them on GOG? No.

I firmly believe that EA would pull old games from GOG too, but the PR consequences would be too negative so they leave it be for now. On the other hand, "nobody" is ware of ZP, so there are no consequences.

So OpenRA doesn't take care of that pesky issue?

I think those are only for the first RA
